Hydraulic cylinders manufactured by Lodematic (Components) are being used to operate the swivel lid of an induction furnace in an iron melting plant installed by Talormade Induction.

Designed to meet specific criteria established by Taylormade, the cylinders open and turn the lid through 90 degrees to allow unhindered discharge of raw materials into the furnace, and then return the lid to the closed position to retain heat during the melting process.

Other Lodematic cylinders supplied for the same installation are used to tilt the furnace for pouring of the molten iron, and to operate the automatic guard system. (Source EFI JAN/FEB 2000)
